Daily Naqshbandī Awrād

The Naqshbandī follower practises their prayers and obligations according to the Holy Qurʾān and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, keeping the presence and love of Allah alive in the heart. As in every Sufi order, students are given a prescribed set of daily spiritual practices to observe diligently alongside all other obligations. The following is the general daily Awrād of the Naqshbandī path, from the level of the beginner (mubtadiʾ) to the level of the people of determination (murīd).

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path — the path of those who have received Your grace; not of those who have brought down wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray.

Āmana ar-Rasūl (2:285–286)

Whoever recites these verses will attain a high station, and the safety of al-amān in this world and the hereafter.

Āmanar-rasūlu bimā unzila ilayhi min rabbihi wal-muʾminūn; kullun āmana billāhi wa malāʾikatihi wa kutubihi wa rusulih, lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadin min rusulih, wa qālū samiʿnā wa aṭaʿnā, ghufrānaka rabbanā wa ilaykal-maṣīr. Lā yukallifu-Llāhu nafsan illā wusʿahā, lahā mā kasabat wa ʿalayhā ma iktasabat. Rabbanā lā tuʾākhidhnā in nasīnā aw akhṭaʾnā. Rabbanā wa lā taḥmil ʿalaynā iṣran kamā ḥamaltahu ʿala alladhīna min qablinā. Rabbanā wa lā tuḥammilnā mā lā ṭāqata lanā bih. Waʿfu ʿannā, waghfir lanā, warḥamnā. Anta mawlānā, fa-anṣurnā ʿala al-qawmi-l-kāfirīn.

The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers. All of them have believed in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers, saying, “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. Your forgiveness, our Lord. To You is the destination.” Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. It will have the consequence of what good it has gained, and it will bear the consequence of what evil it has earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.

Sūrat ash-Sharḥ (94)

Bismillāhi ar-Raḥmāni ar-Raḥīm. Alam nashraḥ laka ṣadrak. Wa waḍaʿnā ʿanka wizrak. Alladhī anqaḍa ẓahrak. Wa rafaʿnā laka dhikrak. Fa-inna maʿa al-ʿusri yusrā. Inna maʿa al-ʿusri yusrā. Fa-idhā faraghta fanṣab. Wa ilā rabbika farghab.

Did We not expand for you your chest? And We removed from you your burden, which had weighed heavily upon your back, and raised high for you your renown. So surely with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease. So when you are finished with one task, strive in devotion. And to your Lord direct your longing.
